On 19 February, Ambassador Soumen Bagchi called on H.E. Delan Ghafoor Salih (MP), Head of Foreign Relations Parliamentary Committee.
On February 10, Ambassador Soumen Bagchi, accompanied by Consul General, Erbil Madan Gopal, visited the Halabja Hospital in Iraqi Kurdistan to hand over the consignment of medicines, gifted by the Government of India as part of ‘India for Humanity’ initiative.
Consulate General of India, Erbil hosted a reception on the occasion of the 76th Republic Day of India at Radisson Hotel, Erbil. Ambassador Soumen Bagchi & the chief guest H.E. Safeen Dizayee, Head of Department of Foreign Relations, Kurdistan Regional Government, delivered keynote remarks. Closing remarks was made by Consul General Madan Gopal. H.E. Fawzi Hariri, President of Diwan, H.E. Omed Xoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, Mr. Noori Othman, Chief of Staff to the President & Mr. Shaban Chali, Head of the Office of PM of the Kurdistan Region also graced the occasion.
On January 28, Ambassador Soumen Bagchi called on H.E. Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of Kurdistan.
On the occasion of the 76th Republic Day, the Baghdad Mall’s Digital Tower, a popular building in the heart of the city, was illuminated in tricolour.
On January 27, Ambassador Soumen Bagchi called on H.E. Safeen Dizayee, Head of Department of Foreign Relations, Kurdistan Regional Government.
On the occasion of the 76th Republic Day, after the singing of the National Anthem, Ambassador Soumen Bagchi read out excerpts from the Hon’ble President of India’s Address to the Nation at the Embassy of India, Baghdad.

An award ceremony was held at the Al-Mustansiriyah University, Baghdad, where the prestigious ‘Bharat Mitra Samman-Distinguished Alumni 2023’ of ICCR was conferred upon Dr. Muhanad Hatim Hashim Alrakabi by Ambassador Soumen Bagchi.
